MacArthur High School offers academic and extracurricular activities for children in grades 9 through 12. It organizes baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball activities. The school administers the Afterschool Art Lab Program, which provides guidance to work on art class projects and assignments. It conducts classes in business education, career orientation, electronics, cosmetology, criminal justice, media technology, advertising design, computer aided drafting, family and consumer sciences, and automotive collision repair and refinishing. MacArthur High School has a parent-teacher association that assists parents in developing skills needed to raise and protect their children. It also offers membership opportunities for students in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. The school additionally operates a student council. It is governed by the Irving Independent School District, which operates through human resources, purchasing and staff development departments.
