A cancer diagnosis is a life changing event. It is a privilege to meet patients and their families during this stressful time and help them navigate the diagnosis and treatment process together. In surgical oncology, we work as a multidisciplinary team which includes the patient's primary care provider, colleagues in medical and radiation oncology, and increasingly with new specialists in fields like genetics and immunology, in order to provide the best care, personalized to meet our patients' needs. The best part of being an oncologist is the lasting relationship we build with our patients, their support systems and our care team.
