John W. Runyon Elementary School is governed by the Dallas independent School District, which is one of the largest school districts in the United States with a population of more than 160,000 students. The school has an enrollment of over 750 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It has a staff of nearly 60 full-time certified teachers that conducts classes in a variety of subjects, such as computer technology, language arts, special education, foreign language, English, math, science and social studies. It has an after-school program that is organized by the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, which includes various life skill activities and tutoring classes. Established in 1968, John W. Runyon Elementary School is located in Dallas and has a parent-teacher association that sponsors educational and social programs to compliment the classroom curriculum.
