History
The Jesse Tree was founded in Galveston, Texas in 1995. It began with the inspiration of finding ways to adapt the newly emerging internet to help those seeking medical care, social services ministerial or community resources to integrate care and develop strategies to become independent and self-sufficient. Each program or service is designed with hospitality, compassion and common sense to empower those using the system to maximize its benefit and learn, as they go to prevent future problems. Works of Mercy are transformed into everyday resources and provided in a manner that teaches while promoting independence and self-sufficiency. Give us five minutes, there is something we can do to help! Our name is taken from The Book of Isaiah 11:1 - A shoot will come up from the stem of Jesse; from his roots a branch will bear fruit.
Specialties
Until further notice, The Jesse Tree does not have funding for rent, utility or prescription assistance, The Jesse Tree specializes in finding resources for individuals and families that find themselves lost or confused by the lack of integration of care among social services, ministries, medical care and community resources. Using a common sense approach, The Jesse Tree offers suggestions on where to begin, how to best plan the approach and what to expect along the way. We also gather and refurbish used durable medical equipment and medical supplies for those who do not have health insurance. There is a special team of Jesse Tree Volunteers who form The Survivor's Support Network responding to incidents of drowning on Galveston's Beaches. They provide compassionate care for the family and friends while the Beach Patrol searches for the victim. The Jesse Tree transforms Works of Mercy into everyday ways to help those in our community who need help to become independent and self-sufficient - and we do it with dignity and compassion. Help us help others.
