History
Jerry's Transmission Service was established by Jerry Myers in the mid 1970s. The original location was downtown Austin on W. 4th St. A few years later the business was moved to east Austin on E. 4th at Robert Martinez. Mr. Myers realized there was a need for a local parts supplier because all repair shops had to wait a day or more parts. At some time after moving to E. 4th he decided to rebuild torque converters. The wholesaling of parts and torque converter rebuilding success eventually led him to get out of the repair end of his business. The sales operation was managed by his stepson, Jackie Mills. In 1992 or 1993 Mr. Myers decided to retire and looked for a buyer. In December of 1993 he sold the parts part of the business to Phillip Pena, a current employee, and Locke Burgess, a newcomer to the industry. The business immediately moved to 5th St. where it remained for seven years. In 2011 the business moved to its current location on Springdale at the intersection Airport.
