The Institute of Environmental and Human Health was founded in 1996, after a joint venture between Texas Tech University and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. Also known as, TIEHH, the institute assesses toxic chemical impacts on the physical and human environment. It maintains facilities of more than 100,000 square feet, including offices and laboratories. The institute offers a multidisciplinary program that studies the impact of toxic chemicals on the environment and educates outstanding students in the process. Its research areas include analytical and aquatic toxicology, epidemiology, human health sciences and bioterrorism countermeasures. The Institute of Environmental and Human Health is affiliated with Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It is located in Lubbock, Texas.
