Founded in 1892, ILA, also known as the International Longshoremen's Association, is one of the largest unions of maritime workers in North America. It represents more than 65,000 longshoremen on the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico and eastern Canada. The organization works through various warehouse workers, truck drivers and skilled mechanics. It annually hosts a charity golf tournament to support the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. ILA works to provides social justice for labor management cooperation units. The organization offers a security training program that includes evacuation procedures, live drills and exercises. The International Longshoremen's Association is affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, Canadian Labour Congress and International Transport Workers' Federation.
