Houston Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and offers various degree and certificate programs. It has a library that provides access to more than 220,000 books and journals and over 22,000 media titles. The college offers degree programs in art, applied science, real estate, accounting, liberal arts, criminal justice, speech communication, behavioral science and philosophy. It also offers study programs in business information systems, practical nursing, computer science, teacher education, engineering and visual arts. The college also provides financial assistance to students in form of loans, grants, scholarships and work-study programs. Established in 1971, Houston Community College has an annual enrollment of more than 55,000 students and maintains a location in Houston.
