History
Gulf Language School (GLS) was founded in 2007 in Houston, Texas. The school's mission is to provide quality English to second language learners who need to function well in an academic or professional environment. GLS student body is composed of international students from approximately 54 countries as well as local second language learners from Houston's diverse communities. GLS offers four eight-week and two six-week sessions during the academic year with an average of 70-100 students per session. The GLS program consists of six levels ranging from beginner to advanced. GLS classes are divided into skill areas - grammar and writing, Interchange (focus on listening comprehension, speaking, and vocabulary development), and advanced writing and vocabulary expansion. Although classes are divided into skill areas, instructors integrate all core skills into their lessons. Classes meet four hours a day, Monday through Friday.
