Established in 1891, Greenville Electric Utility System is a municipally owned utility system that offers high-speed Internet and cable television services that include more than 185 television channels, over 35 audio channels, television-accessed Internet service and interactive guides. The system maintains a customer service department that offers commercial and residential services. Greenville Electric Utility System serves more than 23,000 residents through over 11,800 meters and nearly 550 miles of transmission and overhead and underground distribution lines that supply approximately 476,900 megawatt hours of electrical power annually. It has been awarded by the Texas Public Power Association, American Public Power Association and Utility Automation Magazine.
