Our founders started their business in 1959 as a small neighborhood grocery with a meat market. A large brick pit was constructed to cook sausage but eventually brisket, ribs and chicken became part of the growing BBQ business. Gonzales Food Market was established as a BBQ restaurant with a grocery store name. The 2nd and 3rd generation Lopez family still operate and manage the business. GFM has grown from 1 to 3 BBQ pits and boasts articles and mentions in Texas Monthly, Travel Channel On-Line, Austin American Statesman, the Austin Chronicle, San Antonio Express News and the Legends of Texas Barbecue Cook Book. Folks come from all over the United States to eat our BBQ and enjoy our small town atmosphere. Our products are made fresh daily and the BBQ is seasoned and smoked to perfection with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. BBQ is our business and our only goal is to provide you with some of the best BBQ found in the great state of Texas.
