Cedric Mitchell, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, the fourth child of seven is the Administrator for 8: 00am worship at the David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Austin, Texas. Prior to being called as Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in December 2001, he was Ministry Coordinator of Men's Ministries for 5 years and Associate Minister to Youth and Children for 3 years at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, under the leadership of Dr. Joseph C. Parker Jr. Esquire. Rev. Mitchell was appointed to serve as a member of the church trustees. While on the trustee council he served diligently and faithfully and was involved in many major strategic initiatives of the church.Rev. Mitchell began his ministry journey at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. This is where he learned to believe God would do magnificent things through people who are fully committed to his leadership. David Chapel, he served as Minister to Youth and Children for a period of three years. He led evangelistic teams in recruiting children and youth to the Lord. He taught teen Bible studies and organized summer retreats for children and teenagers. Pastor Mitchell led, organized and established the first Discipleship Now Program David Chapel for Youth and Young Adults. David Chapel Church is presently well over 1, 000 members.Rev. Mitchell graduated with honors, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business Administration from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas in December 1981. He is presently manager of Billing Services at Austin, Energy and a seminary student at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Waco since fall of 2007. While attending Bishop he received numerous Academic and Athletic Excellence Awards and the Distinguished Military Student Award, the highest honor given to a student in the R.O.T.C. scholarship program. During his years of study at Bishop, he received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, Military Intelligence Corp. Rev. Mitchell received his ranger qualification the same year of his commissioning. Rev. Mitchell was the youngest African American officer ever to be commissioned at a Historic Black College in the state of Texas at the age of 19 years old.Rev. Mitchell made Jesus his leader at the age of 9. His goal of ministry is to develop mature followers of Christ making disciples of others as Jesus commands in the Great Commission ( Matthew 28: 19-20 ). His unique spiritual abilities include preaching, teaching, counseling, project management and hospitality. He enjoys touching people through God's word. And is a genuine lover of poetry and music of all kinds. Rev. Mitchell has a six year old son Cedric IV.Pastor Mitchell served Emmanuel Baptist Church for seven years from 2001 - 2008. Under the leadership of Pastor Mitchell, Emmanuel has discovered a new theme and a new vision" There's A Place for You" in new beginnings with Christ. Inspired by God, Pastor Mitchell's vision is being realized in the hearts of its members and the Austin community. Pastor Mitchell is involved in numerous community efforts, including but not limited to speaking on and participating in improving race relations, domestic violence prevention, and giving leadership to the revitalization efforts pursuant to the Chestnut Neighborhood Plan in East Austin which he has held the position of president of the board of directors. Pastor Mitchell resigned from Emmanuel Baptist Church in March 2008 to complete his Masters of Divinity studies at the George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.
