Dallas County Water Control and Improvement District Number Six was established in 1951 by a vote of 61 for and 1 against. After legal advertisement in the "Texas Mesquiter" newspaper, a hearing was held on July 23, 1951, and the Dallas County Commissioners' Court appointed Jack Walden, Howard C. Cantrell, Fred Hanna, H. C. Allenbaugh and R. J. Crumpton as the first Board of Directors. Some people say they never heard of a MUD and never heard of a City not controlling the water and sewer services within it's limits. Actually, it's more common than not. Thousands of Water Districts and MUDs exists in Texas. Houston alone has hundreds, as well as Austin and other large cities in Texas.
