Denton County Electric Cooperative, member-owned, nonprofit electric cooperative, was chartered in 1937 to provide electric power to rural homes and communities in North Texas. In 1938 the company s first lines were energized and rates for residential and farm service were established at $2.25 for the first 25 kilowatt-hours. In 1999, the company moved to its current headquarters in Corinth Texas. Denton County Electric Cooperative s affiliates include CoServ Gas and Llano Utility Service. DCEC and its affiliates serve the residential, commercial, public building and industrial sectors.
