The Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility, formerly known as National Scientific Balloon Facility, conducts scientific ballooning operations from various remote sites. It has flown experiments for countries, such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Sweden Denmark, Germany, Italy and Japan the facility has launched more than 1700 balloons for over 35 universities, nearly 20 research agencies and approximately 30 foreign groups. The Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility has launched the ELBBO superpressure balloons. The facility provides services for launching large, unmanned, high-altitude research balloons. It is a NASA facility managed by the Physical Science Lab of New Mexico State University.
