Founded in 1976, CLEAT, commonly known as the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, is one of the largest legal service providers in Texas. The organization specializes in representing law enforcement officers. It offers legal representation, political action, collective bargaining and negotiating support services. CLEAT also provides estate planning documents, such as will and power of attorney. The organization defends the rights of law enforcement professionals in a range of issues, including suspensions, terminations and violations of state and federal constitutional and statutory rights. Its members include city police, deputy sheriffs, and corrections and federal officers. In addition, the organization offers expert political assistance to local associations. CLEAT is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
