The Capital Area Rural Transportation System, also known as CARTS, is a rural transit district formed through inter-local agreement by nine-county governments, surrounding the Texas capital city. Based in Austin, Texas, the district serves more than 169 communities and delivers customized transportation services. CARTS delivers transportation tailored for each of the 169 communities. The district serves the countries of Bastrop, Burnet, Blanco, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays and Lee counties and the non-urbanized areas of Travis and Williamson.
