There's an old saying that to really understand something, you should try to teach it to others. Dr. S. Brent Brotzman took that to heart. The author of four best-selling medical textbooks with Elsevier/Mosby/Harcourt: Clinical Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Editions and Handbook of Clinical Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Dr. Brotzman is also a former clinical assistant professor at the UT San Antonio Health Science Center. As an instructor in the Department of Orthopaedics, he was responsible for teaching orthopaedic surgery residents in training. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Brotzman and his team offer a wide range of orthopaedic and sports medicine services at Brotzman Sports Medicine in Austin, Texas. From the basics of conservative therapy to cutting-edge robotic surgery and stem cell techniques, Dr. Brotzman wants to help professional athletes and weekend warriors achieve their goals while remaining healthy over the long term.A Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Brotzman received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He graduated top 10 in his class and earned multiple awards for being the most outstanding student in his class. After completing medical school, Dr. Brotzman spent five years in an orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious Campbell Clinic at the University of Tennessee Orthopaedic Surgery program. He also completed fellowship training in lower extremity injuries at the Campbell Clinic.Sports medicine includes treating injuries, of course, but helping people improve their performance and prevent injuries are also high priorities.
