History
Blodgett Urban Gardens started out as a vision of a group of students at Texas Southern University back in 2012. They noticed that there were no adequate places to eat fresh healthy foods and they only sources of food were fast food chains and convenient stores. So the students got together and asked Texas Southern administrators if they could use a plot of land to build a community garden for the students. However unfortunately as students graduate or have changed interest the garden feel on to the wayside. It was not until a group of students who are currently running the garden made it into the oasis of fresh food it is today in the food desert of third ward.
