Dr. Harish Gagneja joined the faculty of the Internal Medicine department of the Austin Medical Education Programs and the Austin Academic Medical Associates as a Gastroenterologist in July 2002. Dr. Gagneja attended the DAV College in Punjab, India, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1984. He graduated from the Government Medical College, Guru Nanak Dev University in Punjab, India, in 1990. Dr. Gagneja worked as a physician in India until 1993. At that time he started his residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, OH, where he graduated in 1997.Dr. Gagneja completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship with the State University of New York at Buffalo, NY, in 2000. He then accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Gastrointestinal Medicine and Nutrition, Division of Internal Medicine with The University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. TX. He accepted a position of Associate Director of the GI Fellowship program in 2001. Dr. Gagneja was a lead interventional endoscopist at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He has many publications and book chapters to his credit. Dr. Gagneja will see patients and teach residents and medical students at Brackenridge Hospital. He also will see patients in his private practice Capital Gastroenterology Associates" here in Austin. Dr. Gagneja is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as board certified in Gastroenterology."
