The Laredo Parks and Leisure Services Department is responsible for the maintenance of more than 50 parks that cover an area of over 365 acres. The department maintains nearly 15 league and softball fields. It is also responsible for the maintenance and operation of up to five swimming pools. The department provides the city swimming pools and pavilions on a rental basis. The Laredo Parks and Leisure Services Department operates several recreational centers and summer program sites. In addition, the department maintains and operates city cemetery and veterans field. It employs a staff of up to 140 people.
