Ennis ISD Early Childhood Center offers classes to economically disadvantaged, non-English speaking and handicapped students. Its prekindergarten students learn writing their first and last names, addresses and phone numbers, shapes, colors, counting and numerous prereading skills. Its students are taught how to hold a pencil and write using inventive and sound spelling. Its students starts basic reading. In addition to academics, student s day includes lunch, a shortened physical education class, and a brief rest time, weekly computer classes, visits from the counselor and a weekly visit to the library.
