BIOGRAPHY Jeffrey P. Lawrence is a board certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in knee, shoulder and joint replacement. Dr. Lawrence is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedics Sports Medicine and several other professional associations. His areas of special interests are sports medicine, arthroscopy, knee and shoulder surgery and joint replacement. Dr. Lawrence has served on the Boards of The Arthritis Foundation, Youth Encouragement Services and Rise and Walk Ministry as well as the Tennessee Board of Health Care Licensing, Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners and the Tennessee Orthopaedic Society. He has been in private practice in Nashville since 1989. He has taken care of many high school, college and professional athletes as well as giving sports medicine care to several local and national sporting events. A native Tennessean, Dr. Lawrence was born in Nashville and grew up in Memphis. He attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas on a football scholarship. After graduating Summa cum Laude, he returned to his home state to attend the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he completed a general surgery internship and a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency, including one year as Chief Orthopaedic Resident at the University of Tennessee. He was a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard from 1985 to 1995. He is on the medical staff of Centennial Medical Center, Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital and Williamson Medical Center. He is also affiliated with Centennial Surgery Center and Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center. He is a volunteer physician with Siloam Family Health Center. Dr. Lawrence has been happily married for over thirty five years and has three grown children and four grandchildren, adding more yearly. He enjoys his family, running, skiing, reading and service on medical missions. He and his family worked in Dominican Republic to improve the health care available to children.
