The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is a criminal investigative agency that provides services for managing crime laboratories and investigating crimes related to illegal drugs, public corruption, official misconduct, organized crime, domestic terrorism, Medicaid fraud and patient abuse. It employs more than 500 people and maintains several divisions, including criminal investigation, information systems, administrative services, drug investigation and forensic services. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, founded in 1951, provides various online crime statistics, as well as elder abuse and meth and sex offender registries. The bureau operates a training unit that provides education and training to its employees and other law enforcement agencies. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is located in Nashville, Tenn.
