History
After operating a successful pop-up store from October-December 2001, volunteers celebrated the opening of Nashville's first and only nonprofit fair trade store in August 2002. Located in the popular Green Hills shopping area, Ten Thousand Villages offers Nashvillians an unrivaled source of fair trade jewelry, personal accessories, home decor and textiles from around the world. We choose environmentally responsible products that reflect and reinforce cultural traditions and are committed to sustaining long-term relationships with our artisan partners. Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville connects artisans and consumers in a way that encourages cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect.
Specialties
Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville is a nonprofit fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of more than 155 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products. For more than 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has been establishing long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans lack opportunities for stable income. All artisans are fairly paid for their products. Our store provides a unique shopping experience where everyone can participate in the fair trade mission.
