Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a nonprofit consortium of various academic institutions that grants doctoral degree courses. Operational for more than 60 years, the organization manages a radiochemistry laboratory that specializes in the analysis of environmental samples and unique matrices. Its lead radiation sciences training program includes laboratory-based courses in a variety of health physics topics. Oak Ridge Associated Universities professional training programs have trained over 260 individuals. In addition, the organization maintains a media center that houses a selection of audiovisual resources. It manages the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) for the Department of Energy. Oak Ridge Associated Universities members include Carnegie Mellon University, Clemson University and Florida Atlantic University. The organization s clients include the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense.
