History
In January 2010, the Metropolitan Council of Nashville & Davidson County (TN) voted to approve the construction of Music City Center. The new facility would replace the old Nashville Convention Center, allowing Nashville to host large, city-wide conventions in the downtown area. The project broke ground in March 2010 and took a little over three years to complete. The new 2.1 million square foot facility, which spans over six blocks, officially opened its doors on May 20, 2013.
