The Giles County Jail provides housing for inmates awaiting trial or serving a sentence for a crime. It is also responsible for transporting prisoners to and from courts, doctor's appointments, mental health facilities, state prisons and other county jails. The jail supports various work release programs and encourages inmates to work as road crew that is responsible for helping keep roadsides clean from litter and helping nonprofits and other government agencies, as well as in times of natural disaster they help clear the road for emergency vehicles. Located in Pulaski, Tenn., the Giles County Jail employs more than 30 staff members that include jail administrators and correctional, transport and road crew officers.
