Initially serving only 1,877 customers, the Clinton Utilities Board (CUB) in Clinton, Tenn., was founded in 1939. Today, CUB distributes electric service to more than 28,000 customers in six Tennessee counties (Anderson, Campbell, Knox, Morgan, Roane and Union) and four Tennessee municipalities (Clinton, Lake City, Norris and Oliver Springs). CUB purchases wholesale power from the Tennessee Valley Authority. It provides the necessary facilities to distribute electric service to more than 1,400 miles of high voltage circuitry to its customers. Clinton Utilities Board also provides water service to nearly 6,000 customers and sewer services to more than 4,000 customers in the City of Clinton and the Claxton community. It has been recognized as having the best overall water treatment plant of its size in Tennessee.
