Northwestern High School serves students in grades 9 through 12. The school provides a range of technical courses, including automotive technology, cabinet making, cosmetology, culinary arts, and electronics and computer science with robotics. It also offers courses in welding, graphic arts and machine trades. Northwestern High School conducts classes in engineering and design, health science, and theater and visual arts. The school offers nursing programs that provide students with clinical experience in specialty areas, including maternal and child care, mental health and emergency nursing. It provides various extracurricular activities and student clubs, including the National Honor Society, student council, band, choir and Science Olympiad. Additionally, Northwestern High School offers membership for the Future Business Leaders of America, which is an education association of students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. Located in Mellette, S.D., Northwestern High School is a part of the Northwestern Area School District.
