WSPA is the CBS local television affiliate that provides news, programming, entertainment and information to residents of the greater Spartanburg, S.C., area. The station, which broadcasts on channel 7, started operations in 1956 and serves more than 700,000 households. Along with CBS programming and a variety of syndicated shows, WSPA broadcasts more than four hours of live local news, weather and sports on a daily basis. Along with its office in Spartanburg, it also has news bureaus in the South Carolina cities of Greenville, Anderson, Columbia and Greenwood. WSPA is owned and operated by Media General, a diversified communications company that operates newspapers, television stations and online enterprises, primarily in the Southeastern United States.
