Austin International began as a trader of equipment when friends in the meter department at Georgia Power Company asked Randy Austin if he knew where to sell their surplus electrical equipment. That was 1991 and from that first transaction was born what has grown into one of the world's largest electrical utility surplus equipment dealers. Housed in a 264,000 square foot facility on 25 acres of land in York, S.C., are Austin's three divisions. The largest division of Austin is the meter shop, a cost-effective operation that provides cleaning, testing, retrofitting and meter retirement services in the wake of deregulation. The electrical products division is run by engineers who design and build data recorders, totalizers, demand monitors and isolation relay equipment. At the heart of Austin is the purchase and sale of surplus electrical equipment in the electrical industry.
