History
1982: Help for Incontinent People (HIP) was founded by Katherine F. Jeter, EdD, frustrated by a child's problem for which there were few resources. 1991: Moved to larger offices in Spartanburg, SC; HIP establishes 1-800-BLADDER toll-free consumer hot line. 1996: Organization changes name to the National Association For Continence (NAFC); NAFC launches its consumer education website: www.nafc.org. 2003: NAFC relocates is headquarters to Charleston.

National Association For Continence is a national, private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and related pelvic floor disorders. NAFC's purpose is to be the leading source for public education and advocacy about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatments, and management alternatives for incontinence.
