Established in 2002, CMRTA, also known as the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority, works to provide safe, dependable and accessible public transit services to the residents of South Carolina. It has provided transportation services for more than 2 million passengers and introduced over 40 buses that offer a safe and comfortable mode of transportation. The authority supports the Title VI program and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program and investigates complaints. CMRTA operates vehicles that are equipped with wheelchair lifts, as well as provides a range of tokens and gift certificates. It also maintains an online portal that offers information about the Columbia metropolitan area, including its history, upcoming events, shopping, dining, accommodations, and routes and bus schedules.
