A graduate of the School of Law of the University of South Carolina, where he served on the Law Review and was honored by the selection into the Order of the Wig and Robe, Paul also has degrees from the University of Cincinnati, Florida State University, and the University of Illinois. Paul celebrated his 33rd wedding anniversary in 2018. He has adult children, grandchildren and two dogs. The MacPhails are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, where Paul has served as a Deacon. Paul is an avid Cincinnati Bearcats fan.
