The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority, also known as SCSHFDA, is an independent agency that works to provide affordable housing opportunities for state residents. It administers a variety of federal and state programs that assist families and neighborhoods, as well as stimulate the economy by supporting jobs in the construction, real estate and financial industries. The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority offers financial assistance for government agencies and nonprofit organizations. It provides a rental assistance program for the residents of Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee and Lexington counties in South Carolina. The authority offers more than $9 million in funds to over 2,000 low-income households every year. In addition, the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority provides online payment options, as well as operates a mortgage servicing department.
