Norbord's Joanna mill is the first and only OSB mill in South Carolina. Built at a cost of US$115 million, the 460,000 square-foot mill is located on 168 acres in Laurens County, in the community of Joanna, 50 miles south of Greenville, SC. The Joanna mill is the first OSB mill in North America to use the combination of continuous presses and conveyor drying technologies. The mill has an annual production capacity of 500 million square feet (3/8' basis) and its products include standard 4x8 foot panels as well as TallWall (4x9 foot and 4x10 foot OSB panels). The mill has approximately 120 employees and creates about 400 secondary jobs, primarily in woodlands and transportation, as it sources Southern Pine from private woodlands within a 80-mile radius of its operations.
