Dr. Mitchell Oetken is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, awarded in Northeast Indiana as a top doc. After earning a Bachelor of Science in biology at Northland College in Wisconsin, where he also played four years of collegiate basketball, Dr. Oetken continued his postgraduate studies at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Oetken then earned his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, graduating with Sigma Sigma Phi honors and achieving the Anatomy Student-of-the-Year. Dr. Oetken completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, California. He also completed additional training at the Children's Hospital of Orange County, Ventura County Medical Center, and Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. Dr. Oetken is excited to join MUSC, bringing his passion for total joint replacements, orthopedic trauma, and minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. Dr. Oetken is excited to offer the community his expertise in state-of-the-art robotic surgery, minimally invasive anterior approach total hip replacements, partial and total knee replacements, and anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacements. Dr. Oetken has practiced in both California and Indiana and has served as the team physician for several sports teams, including football and basketball, and is honored to now service the Lancaster County School District athletes. His goal is to become an active participant within the local community, as he has previously served as a board member for community development and economic vitality, as well as involvement in local government. In his free time, Dr. Oetken values spending time with his wife, their two beautiful daughters, and their two Labradoodles. Dr. Oetken also enjoys exercising, biking, basketball, traveling, and the outdoors.
