Located in Lexington, S.C., The Clerk's Office is headed by Clerk of Court who serves a four-year term. The Clerk's Office is responsible for a variety of activities and duties governed by state law under the supervision of the South Carolina Judicial Department and court administration. It supports the work of the courts of general sessions, common pleas and the family court. The office provides information and assistance to prospective jurors and active juries. The Clerk's Office receives criminal warrants and transmits them to the solicitor, receives bails, compiles trial lists, manages the dockets of cases to be heard and staffs the courtroom while the court is in session. It also receives fees, fines and costs, maintains court records and submits reports to a variety of state and federal agencies.
