North Myrtle Beach Public Safety operates a fire and rescue department that is comprised of more than 110 members who serve over 15,000 individuals. It responds to nearly 2,700 calls for service. Its fire training bureau offers training in the areas of hazardous material operations, weapons of mass destruction, truck testing, defensive driving, and confined space and high angle rope rescue. The division has an investigations bureau that utilizes the Automated Fingerprint Identification System and has mobile crime scene vehicles and in-house crime laboratory. North Myrtle Beach Public Safety also maintains special response and K-9 teams and a traffic unit. It is governed by the City of North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
