The Brownsville Community Church of God was first organized on May 16, 1900, and the cornerstone of the present church laid down December 4, 1977. The building is simple red brick, an unpretentious house of worship tucked into a residential neighborhood of small homes and double-wides. There is a large open parking lot and a nearby recreational center affiliated with the congregation, which is headed by the pastor Rev. Robert L. Toliver.
