Established in 1969, Aiken Area Council on Aging provides health, wellness, nutrition, transportation, social and other services for prevention of critical and acute care needs of community. It maintains a sitter registry containing list of caregivers with their experience, training, time availability, work preferences and areas willing to work. It provides in-home respite care by developing socialization skills as well as motor skills of the participant and provides a medium of outlet to relieve the caregiver. It offers transportation through Job Access Reverse Commute program for low-income people to get to and from work, job-related training and interviews. It offers support and information for caregivers of people who have Alzheimer's disease. Aiken Area Council on Aging is located in Aiken, S.C.
