Led by Rabbi Moshe Laufer and his wife, Mirel Laufer, Chabad has been working to serve the needs of the Jewish community in greater Barrington since 2006. Chabad reaches out to Jews with acts of goodness, kindness and a network of educational and nonsectarian social services under Jewish auspices. "We're not a typical Jewish temple," Rabbi Laufer says. The community-based nonprofit is a branch of the largest Jewish organization in the world. Chabad's philosophy, rooted in traditional Jewish values, combines rigorous study, meditation, and proactive community outreach.
