United Water Rhode Island is a subsidiary of United Water Incorporated. A manager of four of the nation's largest municipal water and wastewater contracts, United Water provides water and wastewater services to approximately 7 million people in the United States. In addition to owning and operating regulated utilities, the company operates municipal systems through public-private partnerships and contract agreements. It provides a variety of services, including: purifying, adding chemicals and aerating water from wells, rivers, lakes and streams for safe community drinking water; cleaning wastewater for safe release back into rivers, lakes and streams; and enabling municipalities to outsource the management and operation of their water and wastewater systems, offering a full spectrum of asset management through public-private partnerships such as contract operations, infrastructure management, customer services, billing and collections, long-term leases, asset acquisition, design and construction, ownership and private financing. United Water was founded in 1869 as a regional water utility and manages many of the nations municipal water and wastewater contracts. United Water Rhode Island maintains facilities in Wakefield, R.I.
