Established in 1980, Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families serves troubled children, youths and families. It operates child welfare, central management, juvenile corrections, licensing, children s behavioral health, and development, contracts and standards divisions. The department offers ongoing social services, rehabilitation programs and case management services to the victims of abuse, neglect and dependency. Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families also offers mental health services to developmentally disabled people. In addition, the department offers foster care programs, including board payments, clothing allowances, and day care and medical coverage.
