The Diocese of Providence is administered by a Vicar General and it provides pastoral direction and care services. Located in Providence, R.I., the diocese conducts its activities through more than 200 separate corporations, including ministries and programs, and hospitals and health care workers. Its staff includes priests, deacons, and sisters and brothers. The diocese provides services to more than 679,000 Roman Catholics in parishes and shrines. In addition, it provides elementary and high school education to more than 18,600 children. The Diocese of Providence provides funeral and parish services and maintains more than seven cemeteries throughout Rhode Island. It also offers various community programs that include outreach, assistance and advocacy programs.
