The York Water Company is in the business of impounding, purifying and distributing water. The company operates entirely within its franchised territory that covers more than 30 municipalities within York County, Pa. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission regulates the company in the areas of billing, payment procedures, dispute processing, terminations, service territory and rate setting. Water service is supplied through its own distribution system. The York Water Company obtains its water supply from the south and east branches of the Codorus Creek, which drains an area of approximately 120 square miles. The company has two reservoirs, Lake Williams and Lake Redman, which together hold up to 2.25 billion gallons of water. Its average daily consumption is approximately 18 million gallons, and its average daily availability is approximately 35 million gallons. The York Water Company is headquartered in York, Pa.
