History
Tselaine started as an escape from cubicle world. Designer Elaine Tse started selling to Saks Fifth Avenue and the world wide catalog Eziba early on in her jewelry making career. Now, her line is carried throughout the United States. A retail store was the solution to the company's seven year itch. Starting in Old City, Tselaine showed artwork in addition to the jewelry in a gallery setting. In 2007, the store relocated to Rittenhouse Square and the emphasis moved towards fashion accessories.
Specialties
Tselaine strives to bring small, wonderful designers to your attention. You may not know the names, but you will recognize the creative workmanship. Take, for example, the work of artist Taina Hartman from Washington State. I found her colorful necklaces and earrings at a museum gift store in San Francisco and tracked her down! She makes the most charming sketches of birds, trees, and plants and encases them in a sterling silver frame. We cannot keep her items in stock because her collection starts at $26 and is exclusive to our store on the east coast. Every item in our store has a wonderful story. Most of our items are fair trade or made in America.
