The Camphill School
Camphill Special School is a residential community school located on 77-acres in rural Chester County, west of Philadelphia. A community of more than 150 people, Camphill includes children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and a trained professional staff. The facilities on the school premises include a schoolhouse, medical building, community building, barn and a swimming pool. Camphill, founded by Dr. Karl Koenig in 1939, has more than 80 therapeutic communities worldwide. The school offers a variety of educational programs for children and young people with developmental disabilities such as the kindergarten program, a home-based residential or day program, a therapeutic and medical program, a pre-vocational program for adolescents and educational transition program. Camphill also offers a variety of therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, rhythmic massage, hydrotherapy, sensory therapy, equestrian therapy, art therapy, music therapy, speech and language therapy, curative eurythmy and color light therapy.
