Established in 1905, Pennsylvania State Police is a police organization in the United States. Based in Tunkhannock, Pa., the authorized police body comprises over 4,677 sworn members. Additionally, it has more than 1,600 civilians in a variety of roles throughout the department. Pennsylvania State Police has jurisdiction in all political subdivisions in the Commonwealth. The department performs patrol and crime related functions, as well as offer other services, such as child safety seat checks, fingerprinting, risk vulnerability assessment, enforcement initiatives, firearms update, traffic laws and more. It has received certification from Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC).
